The 2020 Journal Award is presented to Julien Le Tanou and Médéric Blestel, for their paper, Analysis of Emerging Video Codecs: Coding Tools, Compression Efficiency, and Complexity, published in the November/December 2019 Issue of the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal
Mederic Blestel is a Principal Video Compression Engineer within Mediakind. He joined the Envivio compression team based in Rennes (France) in 2011. Experienced leader, his research interests focus on various aspects of image and video processing research. He has been heavily involved in various encoding projects and now mainly focus on new technical trends in the video compression area. Prior to Mediakind, Mederic contributed to JPEG and MPEG standardization within IETR laboratory. Mederic received a Master of Engineering degree from the INSA of Rennes in 2006.
