Description

Once the traditional broadcast spectrum is converted to ATSC 3.0 it can function as a wireless "one too many" superhighway for data transport. The evolving communication and IT markets will increase the need for a wireless spectrum for a variety of applications. Because the wireless spectrum is finite, when demand grows, it becomes more valuable. ATSC 3.0 spectrum is enabling multiple addressable services at TV stations including advertising, content delivery, and alerting. When multiple stations pool spectrum they can offer regional and national data transport services. Finally, through the use of a broadcast core, the broadcast spectrum can serve as the "one too many" piece of a merged data transport solution that can combine spectrum from cable, satellite, and telecom 5G.
