Description
Few technologies have the privilege of being more opaque, complex, and disruptive as artificial intelligence. As the media industry starts to deploy machine intelligence at scale, it is confronting major challenges in a variety of areas including data, semantics, privacy, and platform interoperability. To explore these issues and scope out industry-wide solutions, SMPTE and the Entertainment Technology Center have joined forces to create a task force dedicated to examining opportunities for standardization and interoperability around artificial intelligence throughout the industry. In this session, the two co-chairs of the Task Force, Fred Walls and Yves Bergquist, will introduce the group’s work so far and answer questions.

Take-Aways from this Presentation
• The Language Metadata Table is a set of language codes approved by a committee of metadata and entertainment peers.
• The codes meet the technical (eg IMF) and descriptive metadata requirements of content creators, as well as by content metadata registries (eg EIDR), distribution standards (MovieLabs, ISDCF), and technical metadata standards bodies (eg SMPTE).
• LMT is the language code solution that is needed, no matter what.
