Description
The screen size and resolution for consumer displays have been steadily increasing in the market. According to established vision science, there are limits to the human visual system regarding the perceptibility of resolution at typical viewing distances. This paper discusses a subjective evaluation that was performed to assess the perceptual difference between 4K and 8K for various types of content on an 8K consumer display. It also performs a detailed frequency and visibility analysis of the content to determine the characteristics of the most perceptual content and establishes a relationship between the subjective test results and the vision science.
